Yakou Meite has said goodbye to Cardiff City fans in an emotional social media post as he becomes one of seven players leaving the Welsh club this summer. The striker's contract expires at the end of June, bringing his two-year spell at the club to an end.

Meite shared his thoughts on Twitter (X), expressing mixed feelings about his time with the "Bluebirds":

"Thanks @CardiffCityFC for this 2years. Really wanted to do well for this club but unfortunately its been a difficult season. Always tried to do my best and I will still leave with some good memories."

He also showed his support for the club's future, adding: "I've met some incredible peoples who deserve to be happy again and Watch this club going straight back to the champ. Wish you all the best for the future bluebirds."

Meite isn't the only player heading for the exit door. Six others - Jamilu Collins, Raheem Conte, Anwar El Ghazi, Kieron Evans, Dimitrios Goutas and Aaron Ramsey - will also leave when their contracts expire this month.

El Ghazi, whose Cardiff career was hampered by injuries and inconsistent performances, also posted a farewell message on Instagram: "Thank you @cardiffcityfc for giving me the opportunity to play football again. I wish the club and the fans nothing but the best."

Meanwhile, the club appears to be making transfer moves despite not having a permanent manager in place. According to The Mirror, Cardiff are interested in Kamil Conteh, a 22-year-old midfielder from "Bristol Rovers". They face competition from "Derby County" and "Wycombe Wanderers" for the Sierra Leone international, who reportedly has a significant release clause in his contract.

Cardiff's managerial situation remains unresolved, with Brian Barry-Murphy currently in talks to take over. However, they need his current employers "Leicester City" to agree to his release before any appointment can be made.

Can Cardiff bounce back to the Championship as Meite hopes? The club certainly faces a challenging summer of rebuilding ahead.
