Danilo Falkovsky and five other players have left "Metalurg" Zaporizhzhia after the club's relegation from Ukraine's First League, according to an official club announcement.
"We thank these players for their contributions and wish them success in their future careers," – the club stated on their official website.
Along with Falkovsky, the contracts of Vitaliy Varyanik, Volodymyr Blyznyuk, Maksim Strads, Vladislav Vasilchenko, and Anton Osadchuk have all expired, with none being renewed following the team's disappointing playoff performance.
The Zaporizhzhia side crashed out of the First League after losing both legs of their relegation playoff against "Chernihiv" – suffering a 0:3 defeat in the first match before falling 0:2 in the return fixture.
Interestingly, despite the setback, the club's management appears determined to bounce back quickly. They've already announced plans for a complete reset with the aim of securing promotion back to the First League within just one season.
The squad has now begun their vacation period, which will run until June 30th. After that? The hard work of rebuilding begins.
Can "Metalurg" regroup and make good on their promise to return to the First League at the first attempt? The coming season will certainly put their resilience to the test.
