Oli McBurnie has become the primary transfer target for "Birmingham City" as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of their Championship return. The 29-year-old striker is expected to be available on a free transfer following "Las Palmas'" relegation from La Liga.

The former "Sheffield United" forward can leave the Spanish club due to a specific clause in his contract that activates upon relegation. "Birmingham" are reportedly leading the race for his signature, having already tabled what sources describe as a lucrative offer.

McBurnie netted five goals in Spain's top flight last season – not spectacular numbers, but his Championship experience makes him an attractive option for the Blues.

Interestingly, "Birmingham City" aren't the only club monitoring the situation. "Celta Vigo" remain interested in keeping the Scotsman in Spain, while English sides "Swansea" and "Hull City" have also been linked with moves for the striker.

Fan reaction to the potential signing has been mixed but largely positive. One supporter, Kian, pointed out: "McBurnie scored his last Premier League goal only a year ago, just played in La Liga, and only just turned 29 and has a good record in this league."

Another fan, Dan, suggested McBurnie would quickly become a terrace favorite: "Character that will be loved by the Tilton and away day ends. Proper old school attitude - throw his weight around and will be a different option to use."

Some supporters even believe McBurnie would represent an upgrade on current options. "Think Dykes goes if we sign McBurnie. Wouldn't be against that TBH, quite the upgrade," wrote one fan named Arq.

Could this be the signing that helps "Birmingham City" establish themselves back in the Championship? With his physical presence and second-tier pedigree, McBurnie might just be the pragmatic addition the club needs.
