Danilo Falkovskyi and five other players have left "Metalurh Zaporizhzhia" following the club's relegation from Ukraine's First League.
The Zaporizhzhia-based club officially announced that half a dozen players won't be continuing with the team after their contracts expired. The list includes Vitalii Varianyk, Volodymyr Blyzniuk, Maksim Strads, Vladyslav Vasylchenko, and Anton Osadchuk alongside Falkovskyi.
"Metalurh" failed to maintain their First League status after losing both legs of their relegation playoff against "Chernihiv" with disappointing scorelines of 0:3 and 0:2.
"We are ready for a complete reset and focused on returning to the First League within a year," – the club stated on their official website.
Despite the setback, the team appears to be taking a measured approach to their situation. The players have been given vacation time until June 30, after which the rebuilding process will likely begin in earnest.
Interestingly, this mass exodus comes at a critical juncture for "Metalurh," who must now rebuild their squad to compete in the lower division. Can they bounce back quickly as promised? The coming transfer window will be crucial for their ambitions.
