Ime Okon has decided to leave "Supersport United" when his contract expires on June 30, 2025. The 21-year-old South African center-back will become a free agent after failed negotiations to extend his stay at the club.
According to reliable sources, talks between Okon and "Supersport United" have been ongoing for several months but reached a dead end.
"Both sides couldn't find common ground despite multiple attempts," a source close to the negotiations revealed.
The young defender is now looking to continue his career in Europe. Currently, two clubs are leading the race for his signature - Ukrainian powerhouse "Dynamo Kyiv" and Danish side "Midtjylland".
Interestingly, Okon is expected to make his final decision soon and will announce his new club shortly thereafter. No small achievement for a player from the South African league to attract European interest.
This season, the talented defender has made 24 appearances across all competitions for "Supersport United", finding the net once. Not bad for a defensive player.
Okon's market value is estimated at around €850,000 - a decent fee, though his future club will get him without paying a transfer sum once his contract runs its course.
Will he choose the Ukrainian challenge or opt for Denmark as his first European destination? The football world watches with interest.
