Danylo Falkovsky and five other players have left "Metalurg Zaporizhzhia" after the club's relegation from Ukraine's First League. The club's official website confirmed the departure of six players whose contracts expired following the team's playoff defeat.
"Metalurg" failed to maintain their status in the First League after losing both legs of their relegation playoff against "Chernihiv" with scores of 0:3 and 0:2. A tough pill to swallow for fans who hoped for a miracle in the second leg.
Along with Falkovsky, the list of departing players includes Vitaliy Varyanyk, Volodymyr Blyznyuk, Maksym Strads, Vladyslav Vasylchenko, and Anton Osadchuk. All six players' contracts have now officially expired.
Interestingly, the Zaporizhzhia club has already signaled their determination to bounce back. Club officials have announced their readiness for a complete reset with the goal of returning to the First League after just one season in the lower division.
The squad has now begun their vacation period, which will last until June 30. After that, the rebuilding process will begin in earnest as "Metalurg" prepares for life in the second tier.
Can the Zaporizhzhia side regroup and achieve their stated goal of immediate promotion back to the First League? The coming season will provide the answer.
