Maxim Klitschko has explained why he didn't follow the boxing path of his legendary father Vitali, instead pursuing a career in basketball with Ukraine's U-20 national team.
"I know my surname is important in sports, and I'm proud to carry it. However, boxing was never my favorite activity. I loved being outdoors, and eventually found myself on a court in the park. That's how I discovered my passion for basketball. I'm still relatively new to the sport, but I understand I have potential in it," – Maxim explained.
The young athlete's decision to forge his own path rather than step into the boxing ring shows a determination to establish his own sporting identity. Despite carrying one of the most recognizable names in combat sports, Maxim found his calling on the basketball court instead.
Worth noting, Maxim recently experienced a setback when he couldn't help Monaco's youth team secure the French championship. This suggests he's still developing his skills in the sport he's passionate about.
Can the son of the boxing legend eventually make a name for himself in basketball? The journey is just beginning for the young Klitschko.
