Stephane Sebisaho successfully defended his bantamweight championship against El Potro Schisano in a blood-soaked battle at the Plaza de Toros in Alicante. The Belgian fighter from "Climent Club" went the full 25 minutes against his Italian challenger in what became the main event of WAR MMA's sixth installment.
The fight delivered on its pre-match hype following months of heated social media exchanges between both competitors. What began as online animosity transformed into a technical and brutal display of mixed martial arts.
Sebisaho established his range early with front kicks while Schisano countered with powerful curved punches. The Italian's aggressive bursts in the opening round were weathered by the champion, who gradually began reading his opponent's timing. Despite Schisano securing a takedown in the final 30 seconds of the first round, the champion remained composed.
By the second round, fatigue was evident in Schisano's movements. Nevertheless, the Italian landed a surprising right hand that momentarily rocked the champion. After a wild exchange, Sebisaho took control by implementing his wrestling, securing a crucial takedown to dominate from top position.
The third round saw Schisano bleeding significantly from a cut opened by Sebisaho's elbow. Despite medical concerns, the Italian was cleared to continue, showing remarkable heart as the fight progressed into championship rounds.
In the fourth and fifth rounds, Sebisaho's technical superiority became increasingly apparent. The Belgian connected with more precise strikes at various levels while mixing in takedowns that "El Potro" had few answers for. Blood-stained canvas told the story of their grueling encounter.
Interestingly, despite the violent nature of their confrontation, both fighters embraced with respect after the final bell – a testament to the spirit of martial arts transcending personal rivalries.
In the co-main event, Franco Tenaglia submitted Joseph Hapgood in the first round with a rear-naked choke after an intense striking exchange. The Argentine fighter, who calls Alicante home, secured his second victory at the venue and now looks ahead to defending his lightweight title in Bare Knuckle FC against Tony "Loco" Soto.
The evening proved perfect for the Climent brothers, whose gym went undefeated on the card. Luis Picó earned a unanimous decision victory over Mohamed Majid, while Daniel Richardson and Manguelo Navarro also dominated their respective opponents. All three fighters now hold 2-0 professional records after making their debuts in April.
Additionally, Leo Climent and Pepe Torres ensured the "Climent Club" maintained its perfect record for the night. Among the standouts, El Idrissi's performance earned him a title shot against current WAR MMA flyweight champion Borja García at the upcoming Gijón event.
