Ilia Topuria is preparing for his next major challenge in the UFC octagon. The Spanish-Georgian fighter will headline UFC 317 on June 29th, facing Brazilian Charles Oliveira in a bid to capture the lightweight championship belt.
UFC recently released a promotional video featuring Topuria's greatest moments, including his victories over Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway. The current featherweight champion makes his intentions clear in the footage.
"I represent the new generation of Mixed Martial Arts. I am the best fighter in the world. Now it's time to become lightweight world champion. I want that belt, this is my year," Topuria declares in the video.
After conquering the featherweight division, Topuria isn't shy about predicting the outcome of his lightweight debut against Oliveira. He exudes confidence about moving up to the 155-pound weight class.
"I feel so powerful at 155 pounds that when I touch Oliveira's chin, it will explode," states the fighter nicknamed "El Matador."
Interestingly, this fight represents Topuria's attempt to join the elite group of two-division champions in UFC history. The featherweight king now aims to extend his reign to the lightweight division.
