Keyshawn Davis will defend his WBO lightweight title against Edwin De Los Santos on June 7 at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. The undefeated champion (13-0) returns to his hometown for his first title defense since claiming the belt in February.
Davis, a 2020 Olympic silver medalist, captured the WBO lightweight championship by defeating Denys Berinchyk in just four rounds earlier this year. This title victory marked a significant comeback for Davis after previously having a win overturned due to a positive marijuana test.
"He's not an old fighter," Davis told The Ring about his opponent. "He's young. De Los Santos is very young. What I do expect is probably the first couple rounds he'll be slow, get his feet under him."
Despite being heavily favored, Davis isn't taking De Los Santos (16-2) lightly. The challenger hasn't fought since 2023 when he lost to Shakur Stevenson in a WBC title bout, but he's confident in his punching power.
"If I connect, I don't think the fight will continue because it'll end right there," De Los Santos stated to Fight Hype.
Interestingly, the event will be a family affair for the Davis clan. Both of Keyshawn's brothers, Keon and Kelvin, are scheduled for the undercard. Keon (3-0) faces undefeated Michael Velez-Garcia, while Kelvin (15-0) takes on Nahir Albright.
The co-main event features rising prospect Abdullah Mason (18-0) against veteran Jeremia Nakathila (26-4). Mason, just 21 years old, has already earned high praise from legendary promoter Bob Arum and aims to secure his third victory of 2025.
Other notable bouts include Delante "Tiger" Johnson (15-0) facing Janelson Bocachica, and Troy Isley (14-0) squaring off against Etoundi Michel William.
The entire card will air on ESPN and stream on Fubo and ESPN+, with the main broadcast beginning at 10 p.m. ET. Can Davis successfully defend his title in front of his hometown crowd? We'll find out on June 7.
