Ilia Topuria is preparing for his next major challenge in the UFC octagon. The Spanish-Georgian fighter will headline UFC 317 on June 29 in a highly anticipated lightweight championship bout against Brazil's Charles Oliveira.
UFC recently released a promotional video showcasing both fighters' best moments in the octagon. In the footage, Topuria confidently states his ambitions.
"I represent the new generation of Mixed Martial Arts. I am the best fighter in the world. Now it's time to become lightweight world champion. I want that belt, this is my year," Topuria declares in the promotional material.
The video features highlights of Topuria's victories over Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway, establishing his credentials as the current featherweight champion. But now, he's looking to make history by capturing a second title in a different weight class.
Interestingly, Topuria appears extremely confident about his power at 155 pounds. "I feel so powerful at 155 pounds that when I touch Oliveira's chin, it will explode," he boldly predicts about the upcoming fight.
