Igor Klimov has signed with "Kharkiv Sokoly" after leaving "Cherkasy Mavpy" where he played last season. The 24-year-old defender is making a significant move within Ukrainian basketball's top division.

Klimov's performance with "Cherkasy Mavpy" was solid - he appeared in 35 matches, helping the team secure a bronze medal in the Superliga. His individual statistics were respectable too: 8.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.

"Kharkiv Sokoly" head coach Valerii Plekhanov expressed enthusiasm about the new addition to his roster.

"I'm glad we signed Igor. He's a player who impresses with his quick decision-making and confidence on the court. Despite his young age, he already has substantial playing experience at a high level - dating back to his time with Prometey," Plekhanov said.

The coach particularly highlighted Klimov's defensive capabilities and mental toughness. "He has excellent defensive skills and can play against stronger and larger opponents. His strong character stands out. I see him as one of our team's potential leaders."

By the way, Plekhanov noted that competition for the defender position is intensifying. "Competition for the defender position is growing exponentially now - and that only motivates us," he added.

Will Klimov live up to these expectations in his new team? The upcoming season should provide some answers.
