Giannis Antetokounmpo appears to be staying with the "Milwaukee Bucks" despite weeks of swirling trade speculation following their third consecutive first-round playoff exit.
"Right now, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade market, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade discussions. He has not asked for it. The Bucks are not looking to trade him," – ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported Tuesday on Get Up.
The future of the Greek superstar had emerged as this offseason's biggest storyline, especially after Damian Lillard's devastating torn Achilles injury significantly dampened the Bucks' prospects for next season.
Just a month ago, the trade narrative gained serious momentum when Shams Charania reported Antetokounmpo was "open-minded" about determining his future. But that momentum has stalled.
Interestingly, the "Golden State Warriors" have been the team most consistently linked to Antetokounmpo. Team owner Joe Lacob reportedly dreams of pairing the nine-time All-Star with franchise cornerstone Stephen Curry - a tantalizing basketball prospect that would combine an interior force with the greatest shooter ever.
For Warriors fans disappointed by these developments, there's a silver lining. If they can't acquire the two-time Finals MVP themselves, having him remain in the Eastern Conference rather than joining a Western rival represents the next-best scenario.
