Ilia Topuria is ready to make his mark in a new weight class as he prepares for the main event at UFC 317 on June 29. The Spanish-Georgian fighter will face Brazilian veteran Charles Oliveira in a highly anticipated lightweight championship bout.
"I represent the new generation of Mixed Martial Arts. I am the best fighter in the world," Topuria declares in UFC's newly released promotional video that showcases highlights from both competitors.
After conquering the featherweight division with impressive victories over Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway, Topuria isn't satisfied with just one championship belt. "Now it's time to become lightweight champion of the world. I want that belt, this is my year," he states confidently.
The promotional material highlights Topuria's previous wins while building anticipation for his move up to the 155-pound division. It's a significant step for "El Matador" who clearly believes the weight change will only enhance his abilities.
"I feel so powerful at 155 pounds that when I touch Oliveira's chin, he will explode," Topuria boldly predicts.
Can Topuria make history by claiming championships in two different weight classes? The fighting world will find out when these two elite competitors clash in the octagon at the end of June.
