Igor Klimov has officially signed with "Kharkiv Sokoly" after leaving "Cherkasy Mavpy" where he spent last season. The 24-year-old defender moves to Kharkiv following a solid bronze medal finish with his former team in the Ukrainian Superliga.

Last season, Klimov appeared in 35 matches for the "Mavpy," posting respectable numbers - 8.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Not bad for a young defender still finding his groove in professional basketball.

Valery Plekhanov, head coach of "Kharkiv Sokoly," expressed enthusiasm about the new signing:

"I'm happy we signed Igor. He's a player who impresses with his quick decision-making and confidence on the court. Despite his young age, he already has substantial playing experience at a high level - dating back to his time with Prometey. He shows excellent defense and ability to play against stronger and bigger opponents. He stands out with his strong character. I see him as one of our team's potential leaders. Competition for the defender position is increasing dramatically now - and that only motivates."

Klimov's defensive skills should prove valuable for the Kharkiv squad as they look to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season. By the way, his experience with "Prometey" gives him an edge that Plekhanov clearly values.

Will the young defender live up to the expectations and emerge as a team leader in Kharkiv? The competition at his position is certainly heating up.
